Wedding suitsFashion Trends for Weddings for Grooms:

As the Wedding Co-ordinator for Dorian Black, I see quite a few weddings every year and I have noticed quite a few changes to weddings as a whole and what my clients are looking for to achieve the perfect look that’s special for their wedding. As always though there are a number of trends emerging which have become popular in the last year and myself and my team have predicted a few wedding suit looks which we expect to take off for next year.

Colour is the new black…

Wedding SuitsIn the last year as you all may have noticed the Bright Blue Wedding Suit, as the ideal choice for grooms to stand out. After all weddings are about more than just the bride and we encourage our grooms to stand out and get noticed in something a little different from the average everyday suit they wear and choose something a little different to make them feel extra-special on their wedding day. Though this splash of colour is still on trend we expect grooms choose richer and more vibrant colours like our Burgundy suit or our French Navy suit.

Check wedding suits have come back with a bang. It has been sitting on the side-lines for the last little while, biding its time until we all noticed it in the corner just in time for Christmas. As we all know fashion works in cycles but this particular cycle is focusing on subtlety, the checks should be light and blend with the dominating colour of the fabric. It gives your suit some texture at a distance and a nice detail when up close, which makes it perfect for your photographs. However, if like me you love your check there are amazing vibrant check suits with a dominating secondary colour which we are expecting to see more weddings adopt in the new year.

Tux me up…

Wedding suits

With the release of the latest bond film, a high proportion of our weddings suits are going back to formalwear. But not everyone is looking to be just like 007, there are a number of grooms who are looking for tuxedo which is out of the norm. Tuxedos with an edge. We have seen a high proportion of our clients choose our fashion tuxedo as opposed to our smoking style slim tuxedo. And even more are choosing velvet dinner jackets and white tuxedo jackets than anything which looks even remotely traditional. As one of my favourite new trends I love how its pushing the boundaries on black tie.

50 Shades of Grey…

wedding suitsI’m trying my hardest here to not make any 50 Shades of Grey references but I may crack so bare with. One of the big trends for the new year is Grey on grey. A grey wedding suit flatters most men and can blend with even the most difficult of colour schemes for weddings, it is a popular option for most couples. Duchamp’s Spring Summer collection have shown us though that a grey suit can be more than just a grey suit. Tweeds and textures are a large part of the grey trend for this season, and grey check is a large part of the check trend. A great way to personalise this look for your wedding would be choosing a stand-out tie or a unique accessory to add that splash of colour and keep you in focus for your wedding.

The important thing to remember when you pick your wedding suit is to pick the look that’s right for you. Incorporating aspects of trends is a great way of getting the look without biting more off than you can chew :).
